Subject Description
This is an Applied GCSE subject and it is taken in Key Stage 4. It is worth 2 GCSE’s graded from A* to G if the students pass the course. The course consists of 3 units of study. The 3 units are all related to real life experiences in the workplace in any leisure and tourism industry. This is the biggest employer in the UK and most people at some time in their lives will work in this industry. The 3 units are: - Investigating leisure and Tourism (this is tested in an exam)
- Marketing in Leisure and Tourism (as a coursework unit)
- Customer Service in Leisure and Tourism (as a coursework unit)
| Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11) When you are in Year 9 you will be able to choose to study this course as part of your GCSE options. Whilst the course is about producing coursework, much of it is practical and hands on. You will be able to research information using the internet and library and learn through role plays how to deal with customers in different situations. Students also go on lots of visits to have proper experiences from business experts. The visits include trips to Cadbury World and Alton Towers.
